The Cornell Community Centre & Library situated beside Markham Stouffville Hospital offers an array of unique features promoting education, community, fitness and accessibility. It features a fully-equipped health and fitness centre, an indoor playground, three pool areas (including a therapy pool), a multi-sensory room for toddlers and individuals with developmental disabilities, and a rehearsal studio. Cornell features an abundance of playgrounds, sports fields, and parks including a new dog park!
Cornell is home to some of the most highly-ranked schools in Ontario. The schools that serve these communities offer English, French, French Immersion, or Catholic curriculums. Buying a home in a multiple offer situation was scary, especially because we really only took 48 hours to make the decision that we wanted to move! When my husband and I first met Susan, we were just starting to get an idea of what we would like in our ideal home. We stopped by an open house in our neighbourhood, making it clear that we were a few years away from making the jump. Even though we weren’t prospective buyers for that particular home, Susan gave us SO much useful information and chatted for quite a while. They also gave us a lot of information about how selling our condo would look before we decided to go through with everything, which gave us a lot of piece of mind when we bought before having sold off our property first (we had no problem selling it off!).
Her teammate Jessica was fabulous in coordinating all of the paperwork, negotiations, and walk-throughs of the home – not to mention the team was able to help us out when one of the appliances gave us trouble once we were in. She also took us through to see several other properties before we started re budgeting to get our dream home in the end. Meliza supported us in purchasing a new home and selling our current one; she is a wonderful communicator and is always prompt in responding to inquiries.
On the sell side – Meliza puts in 100% of her effort to sell the home; she has a great eye for helping us prepare the home for sale and goes beyond expectations in marketing with multiple social media videos. She’s also very timely in checking in with potential buyers for feedback to encourage dialogue with buyer agents and leads. The market turned during our listing and we were sold the home for below expectations, but Meliza negotiated with the buying agent to optimize the final sale price.
On the purchasing side – Meliza was quick to respond to inquiries regarding the property and was also able to negotiate for a purchase price. The process was slightly rushed and there was uncertainty (again, due to the market fluctuations) that we weren’t able to account for. If we were to do this again, we should have asked Meliza more questions in terms of recourse and other safeguards for purchasing a home with a limited budget in a volatile market to be better informed.

After the first meeting we were confident that she was the right person that we wanted to entrust to get the house sold at the best price possible in this buyer’s environment. Professionally, Susan Taylor was thorough and detailed in the process of selling our home. She has a network of different support companies she leans on to improve the appeal of the home prior to selling. For example, her stager provided recommendations which included some painting to update and refresh some of our rooms, and staging our home for selling appeal. Since Susan was informed of the comparable homes in the area that sold, and were currently available or coming soon to the market, it helped us understand her pricing recommendation for our house.
